I know the feeling. I hadn't really thought of buying a whole bolt til I realized I wanted a bunch of white on white and I used a Joann coupon and bought it. I felt completely "flagrant"!

    What a wonderful idea!!

Whenever I find a fabric that I absolutely love or a "staple" type of fabric, I always buy the whole bolt. You can never have enough fabric on hand when the muse strikes! I also like to buy interfacing by the bolt so I never have to worry about not having some on hand.

OOOOOO! I see a new stash of bolt fabric building..... I hope you have lots of fun with it. I have been thinking of using muslin as backing lately. It works so well on 20s and 30s repro fabrics which are my favorites. Post pictures if you can of the finished quilts. I'd like to see them.

I love the idea of a bolt and have been thinking about a bolt of whitish like snow but even better I like the idea of swapping with friends.

I buy battings by the roll. Right now, there's wool, Warm and Natural and 20/80. Always handy! Two are stored on the fourth rail under the Longarm frame. The third is in the corner. I do have a couple bolts from a garage sale a few years ago. They came in handy for backings recently, yay! It is a good feeling.

This thread made me smile - congratulations to you! I bought my first bolt 4 months after i started making quilts. It's for an OBW (still to be made lol). I have since bought 3 bolts of tonal white, 1 black, 1 dark tonal blue, and 1 creamy batik. I have scraps left of the batik - used it for a quilt back, as I did the dark blue but there was more on the bolt on that one. I think I still have 3-4 yards of it. The whites I use ALL the time, as I do the black. I don't mind buying by the bolt IF it's something I know I'll use. AND I have been known to ask my LQS for a discount on the bolt, especially if I catch her right before she places an order (Love the brush strokes/grunge fabrics by Moda) She still makes money and I get exactly what I want!
