I know I read about these and have now gotten the pattern for the small bag, but the size still seems a little large to me. Has anyone figured the dimensions to make in about and 8 x 10? If so, could you please share

The Mini Bow Tuck measures about 8 to 8 1/2 inches tall by 11 to 12 inches long. Depends on your seams.

If you're happy with the height, and you just want it narrower, then take 1" off the width. Instead of cutting it 17", cut all parts, ie fronts, bottoms, linings and inside pockets , at 16", It might also pay to take 1/2"" or 3/4"off the front pocket and its lining.
I made a huge bag, by increasing the width and height, then sewed the front pocket on with the lining on the outside. Still looks good, but now it will be a gift.
