Has anyone tried using a thin batting and basting spray instead of the expensive Pellon 987F ?

I just used regular batting and stitched it in...didn't do any spray either

I think it would work but remember that spray basting only last for 3 months. If you quilt it, it would stay.

I haven't tried your idea, but I think it would work. However, I've used the Pellon 987 twice and LOVE it! It's easy to use and a nice weight. I bought 5 yards with a 50% off coupon.

I used plain batting and wonder under.Iron on the wonder under to batting take off paper backing,iron on the wonder under to fabric.OR wal-mart has nice iron on pellon,try that.

I used craft fleece and then quilted, came out great

I use the 987F and also some shirt-tailor interfacing. I like a stiffer bag and the craft fleece is way too thick.

I have used Warm and Natural and just quilted it without any fusable and it works fine, but your finished bow tucks are not as rigid. However, I have also used the fusable fleece and did not find it any more supportive or rigid than just plain fusable.

Thank you all for your replies. At Walmart yesterday I found the Pellon fleece without the fusible, at only $2.97 a yard. I am going to try that on the next Bow Tuck, with basting spray. I do fairly dense FMQ on mine so it should work just fine!
