I just made my fisrt on just this year so I don't know how much I can help you. All I can say is look up this tute that Quiltforme mentioned and read the directions a couple of times. Thats what I did. I also took my time with it. Didn't try to finish it a day and I think that helped. You can pm me if you want, but I don't know if I can help you.

I have made many and have seen others post bags of amazing bags. Do a search on bow tucks and look at what others have done with design, color, etc.
My suggestions would be to quilt the bag before you put it together. It doesn't have to be alot, just some free motion, or cross hatching. I found that this gives the bag a little more stability, and a nice finished look. It does add a little time to making the bag, but I found it was worth it.
Most importantly, just have fun and don't worry if your first bag isn't perfect. Just enjoy the ride!
