OK, here's some pics. I used the steam iron method and it worked amazingly. Then I added some mitered borders. Thanks for all the help. I'm off to sandwich the layers before DH gets home. :D

Thanks!! And, after all that work and worrying, it's going to be on it's way to it's new owner soon. I made it for a girl whose parents have always been good friends of my dad. She was a "change of life" baby for them (I was friends with their older daughter) and she's going to be 16 in October so I thought it would make a great Sweet 16 gift for a girl who loves purple.
