Breaking needles?
I've been having a horrible lot of trouble with my Viking 250 lately.
When I'm quilting I keep breaking needles. It's perfectly fine doing anything but for and worked well for all but the last 7 in of a baby quilt. I sent it in and it got a tune up and it's still doing it.

My first thoughts would be that you are moving the fabric/sandwich while doing your FMQing and pulling on the needle, which then causes it to snap.
It might be best to have your dealer observe you as you quilt. If so, they could give you tips on how to eliminate the problem. And if not, they can then trouble shoot and help determine what the problem is.

I second this. FMQ puts torque on your needle. I suggest a 16...and watch your hand speed/machine speed also. It is something that comes easier to some than others. I was a 'hard' learner! Kinda like rubbing your tummy and patting your head.

The needle is striking the threat plate. The quilt is maybe pulling the needle out of alignment. If you have a zig zag plate for your machine, make sure it us on rather than a single hole plate. The larger opening may prevent the needle strikes.
