    I use a lot of broadcloth in quilts with no problem.

    I use any fabric that has cotton in it when I am making a scrap quilt. My only criteria is how tight or loose the weave is in the fabric. I find it impossible to match seams when I use I tight woven fabric against a loosely woven one even when I starch and iron the fabric. I'd say go with the broadcloth.
