Default Brother PQ1500s machine, comments anyone?

I have the "itch" to purchase a new sewing machine and I have been particularly taken with the Brother PQ1500s. This is a straight stitch only, high speed machine that comes with an extra long bed and a variety of specialty feet such as a walking foot, quilting foot, etc. I have read some good comments and some not so good. I haven't seen a machine in person and the closest Brother dealer does not have one on their floor for testing. I was wondering if anyone in this well respected group has any experience with this machine and would share their opinions. Really would like to hear about the FMQ capabilities and ease of use. I know it isn't a terribly expensive machine in the scheme of sewing machines that are out there, but as newly retired, I don't want to make a $700 mistake. Appreciate any comments, thanks.

It has great reviews on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...7Y7E7P7G6GRQJ2

If you don't need dealer support, amazon usually has really easy returns.

Ohhh I have one and I love it! No bells and whistles, just perfect for what I need. I paid $700 for mine on ebay and it came with a table top frame. It is a work horse. I have had no problems with tension or needles breaking. I did learn early on that i needed to change my needle before I put a new while on the frame. If you have any specific questions, I will try to answer. I love mine, it is perfect for my needs and was soft on the budget. Lol it has most definitly paid for itself!

Let me know if you have other questions

I have one too. I love it. I have had it for several years, and it is a workhorse. I do all of my piecing and quilting on it. It cuts the threads too, which I love!

AS my sister says, "It's the bomb". I broke it in for her and it is a great machine. Never felt a smoother pedal and it went through 7 layers like butter. Allbrands.com has it for $600.00 and free ship. You won't regret it.

Love it! Both Mom and I bought one and it a darn fine machine. Makes a great stitch and does beautiful FMQ. I have a Horizon and this one is my favorite. I can get a bang on scant stitch and it has a nice space for FMQ. I've also used several different threads in it and it's not the least bit fussy. Also, Mom and I bought our from AllBrands.com and they were drop shipped from Brother. They were only $599 there. I have a great dealer and have two Janomes from them, but since we were in two different states and buying two I had to save a little money.
