I have a friend whom is looking into purchase this machine. I own a Phaff and Viking, so I can't help her. She wants to keep it around the $200. area. Does anyone have experience with the Brother SQ9000 ?
    Thanks for your replys.

I have it and love it. I love the decorative stitches, the needle up/down feature, the needle threader. The ability to sew without the foot pedal is awesome, and I use the speed control a lot. It's a great little machine, with a lot of bang for your (her) buck. It handles beautifully over thick seams. I've only used it for quilting, so I can't say how it handles with tougher fabrics/materials. Super user friendly, easy operation, threading and maintenance.

There are two things I would change - the throat is small, and the screw for the needle sticks out too far and catches on the quilt.
