Default Brother SQ9050 quilting foot challenge

Do your needles break after a while using this quilting foot. I have a phone number to the service center for Brother to find out if this is a problem and to see if they can send another quilting foot to me....just wondering if this is a singulary issue or if anyone besides me has this challenge as well. Thanks, Julie

which foot is it the clear one SA129. I haven't tried FMQ on my sq9050 but I haven't had any problems with the foot on my other machines.

The clear foot is the quilting (FMQ) / hopping foot. When you do some FMQing, please let me know if your needle rubs against the inside of the clear part of the foot. thanks. - Julie

I had the same machine and had no problems FMQing. I never broke a needle that way.

    Ditto.

I also have it's "big brother", the Project Runway PC-420, and it uses the same feet. No problems there, either.

That said, the very first Brother machine I bought, an SQ-9000, which I believe was the immediate predecessor to the SQ-9050, had serious problems. I took the SQ-9000 out of the box, brand new, and hadn't used it for even an hour when it came to a grinding, crunching halt. The needle didn't just break. It was destroyed, twisted in ways that I've never seen. I couldn't get it to work properly after that. I took the machine back and got a refund. It had great reviews, so I figured my bad experience was just a fluke. I later replaced it with the SQ-9050.

I've run the SQ-9050 HARD. It's sewn so many quilts that I can't count them. Definitely got my money's worth from it. It was starting to have very minor issues (wear and tear-related, mostly), so I went ahead and replaced it, but it still runs fine. I hope my new PC-420 lasts just as long.
