When my boys were in bunk beds I requested that they "make the bed" before they left for school. The youngest had the top bunk and his solution was leave the bed as I made it, throw a sleeping bag on for sleeping and folded the bag at the foot of the bed in the morning. That was fine with me.

My boys have bunk beds and I made them both standard twin size quilts. Because the quilts are soft, it is easy to tuck the extra fabric under and it helps keep the bed "made" a little longer. I also figure they won't have bunk beds forever and these quilts will easily fit a standard twin size bed.

Either way they will enjoy anything you make. :)

My sons had bunkbeds when they were little and shared a room. When they got their own rooms (new house), we took their bunkbeds apart and they were twin beds that could be used separately. I don't think there was any difference between the two. Maybe other beds are different.

    Thank you ladies!!
You just answered my question, I was going for twin size myself and just found out that my 2 grandsons want to take down their bunks and use as singles, I measured, and finished twin quilts are 75' x 98" for their beds. I found finished quilt measurements for all sizes on www.equilts.com
    Hope this helps.
