I'm an idiot. Fussy cut an alphabet name quilt and burnt part of the yellow kona background fabric when I ironed it on. My thought was to quilt pebbles with yellow thread and then go back over the pebbles with brown thread so it would kind of blend in with the burned part. Has anyone used two colors to machine quilt pebbles and other background areas?

I've used multiple colours so it should work. Only other option would be to applique the yellow over the burned area. That would be hidden by quilting too.

No I haven't but it sounds like a good solution for your problem. If that doesn't do the trick some fabric paints might help as well. It sounds like removing the scorched part isn't an option so do what you can to selvage your project.

Sounds like a good solution from me too. Never burned any fabric before but there is always a first time for everything. Good Luck!

How bad is the burn? Scorch csn weaken a fabric.

You also might want to consider a variegated brown thread, that would keep the eye moving and make it look like you custom made the fabric.

Is it really burned or only the starch that got burned? It may wash out.

Thanks. Didn't use starch. First time I've burned a quilt project. Going to get some variegated thread. It's a wall hanging so hope the weakening of the fabric won't matter too much.

If all else fails...perhaps applique is an option?
