Hi All, My small group and I made this quilt one of us named Gypsy Queen for our beloved Ms. Louise. Louise has now passed. We have the opportunity to enter her quilt in a show but for the life of me I cannot find where I got the applique butterfly. The quilt itself is our original design. I am sure the applique came from a magazine "pull-out," 2007 or older. I have looked through all my magazines and on the internet and cannot find the applique pattern. Someone else besides me had to have fallen in love with this butterfly! I love the stacked heart upper wing. Help! I don't feel we can enter the quilt without acknowledging the designer of the applique butterfly.

That is a gorgeous quilt....a beautiful tribute to your friend.

I have a butterfly design that I cut from a magazine and it looks similar to yours. I used it as a quilting stencil on another quilt. The quilt in the magazine was called "Giant Flutterflies Quilt" and it was in "Quick and Easy Quilting", June 1997. See if you have that mag and check it out.

    Have a wonderful day.

I have been away. Thank you for the most promising lead thus far. I started quilting in 1997 and that sounds like a magazine I would have. I will start looking through my magazines again. Thank you again!

Your quilt is beautiful - haven't found the exact butterfly you used yet, but if you're looking for more similar applique designs, Butterflies by Nancy Donohue 1982 are the most beautiful I've ever seen - bought the book 25 years ago and not used it yet
