Does anyone know how to make a butterfly applique? First time I've done any appliques I used pattern in quilt book but it stilll doesn't fit right.

What style of applique do you want to do? That's your first decision.

I look for patterns from free coloring book pages. If you plan to turn the edge under, don't forget the seam allowance. If you plan to use Steam and Seam or some such you can just trace it and go from there.

I plan on turning the edge under. I added 1/4" for seam allowance.
