    Love the quilt and the butterflies are cute but not if its for a small child.

    She is entering it in a show, so I would say sew them on for now, and if they get to be a problem later if used, they can be removed. Generally, I don't care for butterflies, but these are actually kind of cute, and match the fabric. They could be sprinkled all over, on the sashing, etc.

    Cool! Hope she wins! add the butterflies! Don't forget the hanging sleeve and label for the back of the quilt.

    The buttons do add that extra touch. If the quilt is for real use she could applique just 1 large butterfly in a corner (using fusible web).
