I made a resolution last January to not buy any fabric unless absolutely needed for a project. This year I completed 2 full size quilts and 1 top from my scraps and stash. I purchased only the black Kona backing fabric for the Affairs of the Heart project. I am so proud of myself, plus it has helped me get used to not buying everything simply to have it in my stash. I still go fabric shopping as I LOVE fabric just as much as I love artwork.

I am trying to use up my stash. I allow myself the 4 Bs...backing, batting, background, border. I have used this for over a year now and have made 1 king size, 1 queen, 5 twin, and 1 baby quilt. When I buy batting I buy the same brand and only king size so I will have large left over pieces that can be used in small projects. I have even used tricot interfacing cut in strips to connect pieces of batting to be the correct size.

I'm sure if I walked in the door I would find SOMETHING I just had to have. I have been avoiding lqs sales for that very reason, but if a friend called and asked me to ride along I would not come home with empty arms.

I would buy blenders to go with my stash and make it more flexible. The cost of fabric in not going down--nor is likely to do so. Then again, guess that might depend on how big your "stash" already is!

Absolutely! I normally buy fabric before I have a pattern.

Yes, I would support my local QS. I try to buy a few things every month, just so they can pay their light bill and stay in business. I like quilting, and if the budget allows a few extra dollars, OK. Yes, I have a stash and half; yes, I try to use it and finish projects...or to start a new one. I love my stash; I love to shop for more stash as long as it does not say "expiration date: yesterday!" lol!!

I buy. I want to keep my LQS in business. The way I figure if everyone does a little ... they wont go out of business.
