That seems reasonable to me, as Paypal charges about .60 for transactions.

Hope you can get the pattern  I would question the handling fee, that should be built into the cost of the merchandise

I use Oregon Patchworks and they don't charge a fee to email designs. They email it to you and click on the link and you can download them as many times as you wish.

I try to find patterns I can download right from the website. It's much cheaper. Pam Bono is one site I buy and download and any place that has e patterns, I go to first. No charge for downloading. I would not pay any fee for buying a pattern to be emailed or downloaded. How do you get a pay pal charge? I never get a fee charged from buying anything through pay pal?

The seller pays the fees. Most people just build it into the cost, but it's probably more fair the way she paid, as she only paid the fee once, instead of it being charged per item.

For example, if I am the seller and I sold, say 100 items last month, and I paid $100 in fees (these numbers are TOTALLY made up!), then I need to add $1.00 per item to the prices to cover costs. However, I could also say, oh, I paid $100 for 80 transactions (some people order more than 1 item), and choose to charge $1.20 per transaction instead of a per item fee. Buyers who order less end up paying a tad more, but buyers who buy in large quantities benefit.

You as a buyer might prefer to have these costs wrapped in, but you still end up paying it in the end. I always total up the shipping/handling and consider it in my final decision.
