I always make sure that the notch is at the bottom of any of my threads on the machine.,I'm hooked on another brand now ,though,Sewology by Hobby Lobby. About once a month ,they have buy 1 get one free, that's when I stock up.

Spool cap - that is wider than the top of the spool - works wonders.

I am not sure where one would get one, if one did not come with the machine.

    Maybe Sewing Parts on Line?

I bought some C & C thread recently & it didn't have notches for securing the thread. The spool I bought had the slit all around the spool so you can slip the thread in that & spin it around to secure (don't know exactly how to describe it). However, when they make the spool, the outer edge of the spool is rough (both ends) so I had to file that down in order for my thread not to hang up on it. I think I will contact C & C & see if they can make a smoother spool.

The new version of C&C does have the different spools now. The older version is still sold at Walmart and I think the only place it is sold as Walmart insisted on the cheaper version. Some Walmarts have switched to Guttermann thread.

I haven't used C&C in years but I do remember having that problem. Back in the day you could just flip the spool over. I have no idea about now.

Apparently I'm not the only one with problems with this thread. Somehow makes me feel a little better.

When I have an issue like that, I wind the thread onto a bobbin and put the bobbin on the spool pin. Then I run out of bobbin and top thread about the same time.

Can't do that. My machine requires that thread comes off the back of the spool.

. I always use a thread cap, but it doesn't help in this situation for me.

My machine manual says to use thread cap closest to size of thread spool, but I'll try a larger cap. Thanks for the suggestion!
