    Maybe appliqué or photo transfer a picture of the Louvre to go along with the panel name?

    I love the idea of the artists palette. Tartan, you are so sharp! That would go perfect with the pictures.

    You could also do an appliqué word or words. Example, Inspire, Create.....

    Thank you SEW much for the very creative ideas!!

    Tartan, I love the idea of the palette and brushes as my mother painted and did nice work. I think this would be great with words such as those suggested by Judith. I think I could make this up in my embroidery software.

    The idea of personal pictures is a good one but, for my mother, she wouldn't like that level of personalization. (I'll be lucky if she likes this "homemade" gift.) But her picture on the quilt might be a way to be sure the quilt doesn't disappear in her assisted living facility.

    Thanks again for being so helpful and taking the time to respond.
