Can anyone help please - machine embroidery

Question to Brother PE770 owners - when you put the USB stick in the machine - how do you then transfer it to the machine memory to stitch out? I have read the manual but somehow I am missing an important step. Also can you get a USB cord direct from computer for it - or just use the USB stick (thumb drive)?
I have always used the PE Design box (which I can with this machine, too) so this USB facet is new to me. Thank you.

((((( Always Back up your designs onto a disk )))))
Here's what happened to me.
I have the Babylock Version 2, then they came out with the Version 4, which my program would not work with. So I also bought another program Embird, in Embird I can change formats, so I took the Version 4 which did not work, and changed it to a .Hus, THEN changed it right back to a .pes while in Embird, then took it over to my Version 2 and it works. Go figure. Also my new computer does not handle the old three inch disk. so I bought a USB converter, about 20 bucks, now I can still use what is stored on the disk.
I back my designs up once a month. The first time my computer crashed I lost some designs. Now I have my old computer just for designs and sewing programs and another for the internet.

If you want to be able to see the patterns after you download them..You can get a program named "Embrilliance" and you will able to see what you have loaded on your computer and after you load them on your memory stick.I have the 750D machine and that is the way I did it.

Press the botton in the top righthand corner of your screen. The pocket with arrow up. The next screen you see is the picture of the download and now you can adjust placement etc. as you normally would. If you want to save the download on your machine you can press the top button on the right, the pocket with the down arrow. Now you saved the download onto the machine and you can use whenever. Just check the manual to see how many download you can save on your machine. See page 1 and 2 in your operation manual USB Feature, the thin booklet with the USB stick on it.
I am sorry if I am longwinded, but hope this is of some use. Any more questions, e-mail me privately and I try to help.

I hope to get a memory stick USB stick I think they are and will try again. My machine uses PES format. I downloaded from Embroidery library. I am finding the terminology understandable, but the actual application flummoxing!

I have a newer Brother machine..my 3rd upgrade and I luv it !! I use Embird. It opens the designs up and u can also read up and be able to do all sorts of stuff with it, like resize or change color to see how the design looks, ect. I never do much with it but it does have the ability. I get alot of designs from embroidery library too. I have a embroidery folder area in my E drive so when I buy designs I save them to that folder. I have several smaller folders all broken down into names. Alphabets,Cars, Baby items, flowers, and on and on..so when I get a design I put it in the right folder which comes up alphabetical. Works great. Start now in the beginning before u get lots of designs so u won't get overwelmed.

Jeff, not sure what yours uses....does this make sense to you?

I have a SE-400 and I purchase and download my designs to my computer and then transfer to the 400. According to my manual I have to copy the design to the "Removable Disk" (icon appears in "My Computer" on the computer and the pattern data is written to the sewing machine. You must have a usb cable attached at the computer and then to the sewing machine. The sewing machine needs to be set in the embroidery mode with the embroidery unit attached to the machine. If this is confusing, pm me and I will attach a copy of my manual page that may be helpful.

Rather load from my computer
