    I think that refer to any straight grain (be it WOF or lengthwise)
    compared to a bias binding. I don't believe the lengthwise binding would wear any differently than a WOF binding.

    I cut both my borders and my binding lengthwise. I don't like the way the seams look if I piece my borders.
