Can I do this length for a sashing ?
I am making a queen size quilt and there is a section where I need to do about an 8 inch wide sashing in between 2 rows of piecing.
The length of this section is about 62 inches long.
Can I "safely" piece this as one long piece of material, or would it be "safer" to make it in sections?
It is a solid cream color?
Thanks

karensue, you certainly can safely piece this sashing as one long piece. When you do just remember to pin, pin, pin ..... <smile> Just like Irishrose2, I prefer the long piecing over the extra seams piecing the sashing would entail.

Thanks for the replies.
I will pin a lot
Last evening I spray starched the units until they were WET, and then laid them out to dry over night.
I was just afraid of the pieces being so wide and long they might bow.
Thanks again, now I can continue with this quilt knowing that others have done long and wide pieces as one unit.

When I have to line up blocks on either side of a sashing, I fold the sashing in half long ways, and while measuring, I make little tick marks with a light colored pen on both edges of the sashing. That way as I sew, I can line up the blocks easily using the ink tick marks.
