Can a quilt be TOO large?

i quilt in sections. In high school i made a quilt about 130x130 or so for me and my friends to use at the beach. Boy did i get ugly looksfrom the quilt police. it was my winter project and i used all my sewing scraps from cloths for it. we had great times on that BIG quilt!
