    I think if you want to, you can. However, I had a friend who mixed them and kind of struggled a bit. She used a jelly roll of batik and a jelly roll of regular quilting cotton, and said it took some skill and finesse to ensure the seams matched. Apparently there's a lot less stretch and give in the batiks than the regular cotton.

    p.s. It might also depend on which batiks you're using. My friend's batiks were pretty stiff. I have some batiks that are softer and I wouldn't hesitate to mix them.

    I tend to mix batiks with tonals rather than solids or distinct prints, but that is a personal preference.

    I'm thinking the batik would be awesome for your pumpkins!

    I mixed them in my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler. The other fabrics I used were blenders or near solids. Here's a link to it:
