Can you piece tee shirts together without a sash of cotton cloth between?

I wish I knew how to do a direct link but it is about 10 pages in under 2 T-shirt quilt general listing or if you go exactly under the title in search it's number 5 post for me. The exact title is 2 T-shirt quilts..totally screwed up one.. OR you could contact watterside?
