It’s funny, as a Canadian I get tired of the same old same old.......moose, beaver, hockey, Mounties.....no wonder some folks think we all live in igloos! Then the next Cdn fabric line comes out with these same images and I buy more!
I have a couple throws on the go for Canada Day picnic prizes but I am at a bit of a loss as to what I would do for a wall hanging. Maybe collage some of these images into a flag.....those with strong red backgrounds and strong white backgrounds. Assuming of course that you have access to the Cdn fabric lines. If not maybe some of us Canadian quilters can help you out with that.

Rootyr ... With you being in the USA, I would love to hear more
about your Canadian themed challenge. Who has issued it? The rules?
Ready for Canada Day, and then your 4th of July, as a joint celebration?
Here's an older thread here on the QB, with some Canadian Content for ideas ...
International Patriotic Challenge
Post #23 shows my Monty the Mountie wall hanging in the rough.
Progress at #583, 605 and 666.
Monty was Done and Hung for Canada Day (that year!) at #720!
Another one of mine, A Little Patriotism, that could easily be a wall hanging is at #1276.
Scrappy Patriotic Mug Rugs ... #1284
Our Canadian Flag at 52yrs ... #1321
And of course, you will find lots of other ideas from the other posters in that thread.
Oh how I like that Tartan Leaf in Thrums' post ....
However, it would be a challenge in itself to find the tartans.
Lots of other great inspiration in that pinterest link, as there is in Kitsie's google.

I was in the Maritimes about 10 years ago and was surprise how many fabric shops (not just quilt shops) carried their province's tartan plaid. rootyr could select a specific area perhaps near NY and use those. Etsy seems to have a number of listings. Swatches may do the trick too.

I was going to suggest the block Thrums suggested. There are free patterns out there as I have a copy of it somewhere in my messy sewing room. Also wasn't there a quilt contest for the 150 th anniversary of Canada? google it some some inspiration.
