I have a Bernette 66. The machine was used a few days ago for free motion quilting. I have changed the settings to straight stitch and changed to the regular foot. The feed dogs will not raise with the toggle switch. Does anyone know what am I doing wrong?

On some machines they come up if you turn the hand wheel or start to sew

if none of that works just open the bottom and flip the toggle - most machines its just an internal toggle that the outside level moves.

i've had to do it a couple times on my old singer machine

Thank you every one. I will try every trick you have told me.
There is no thread stuck anywhere so it has to be something else.

This answer really helped me. There may be an internal toggle, but, it isn't visible. So I put the toggle in the down position, lifted the feed dog with my finger, then put the toggle in the up position. It actually worked!
I would not have figured this out without your help. Hugz! Now I can sew!
