Woohoo and a big congrats! Now is that ever the best news!
For baby quilts I like a smaller scale so a 6 inch block versus a 12 inch block. Maybe look for a pattern? There are a good number of free easy baby quilt patterns online too. 1930 reproduction fabrics lend themselves well for babay quilts. Quilter's Cache online has many , many blocks in different sizes. http://www.quilterscache.com/
Another site with many free patterns http://www.freequiltpatterns.info/Qu...ltPatterns.htm
The bottom quilt I made one in purple scrappies and one in pink for each of my twin girls. The pattern is for free http://www.quiltville.com/delmts.shtml
Just besure to press the seams of the mountains open before trying to sew them together.

Oh, CONGRATULATIONS!! I am SOooooooooooooooo envious!
I am always stuck on "traditional" patterns, even for babies--so should I ever find myself in your enviable position, I would start churning out Clay's Choice, Log Cabin, Baby or Tumbling Blocks, Wild Goose Chase, any of the Star patterns, Grandmother's Flower Garden, there's so many beautiful options ....
Have fun and congratulations again!

Congratulations, I too will be a first time grandmother in March. I've made several quilts for my daughter. There are fabric lines out for golden books The Porky Puppy & The Saggy, Baggy Elephant. They make cute crib quilts. Congrats!

Congrats.
Many - many - many years ago, my husband & I announced we were having a baby (we were married for 7 yrs before the announcement- always told everyone we weren't going to have children) - so it was a big surprise - unfortunately he made the annoucement between dinner but before dessert, which was just before my mom started to beat the whipped cream for the pies. She was so excited that she put salt instread of sugar in the cream.
That was the joke - "any announcements you want to make" -at next year's Christmas Dinner.
Imagined their surprise when they asked the same question the following year. My husband was smart enough to wait until the whipped cream was made - before he told them we were go to having another baby - For some reason they didn't believe us at first
My 2 sons were both due on July 20th. I had the 1st on July 19th and my second almost 2 years later on the 11th - & my birthday is July 21st. By the time my birthday came around - it sure did want to have any more cake
