If you have a yard or so in the colors you are considering, I would lay the yard of fabric on the floor and place the blocks on it to see what colors you like best. Like I did with my mod mosaic blocks here:

I would lay a few blocks on larger pieces of fabric in different colors and see which one pops. You couls also take a picture of each selection to get a better view. Good luck with your choice and your block are great!

How about a pale lemonade yellow. Not white and it would make the yellow in those squares pop. It would also make this a more spring or summertime quilt. I'm really not into this 'darker' trend that some quilts have. While they are beautiful, I find that the 'lighter' tones make me feel happy when I look at them.

Whatever color you decide, you might want to use your blocks in the corners of a D9P. I think you might get a great effect. I would use the those in the 4 corners, a red in the centre and black for the sashing pieces (even tho I know you would prefer not to use black I think it would really show off your blocks) imoho )
