WONDERFUL!!! Sunday evening I went to a trunk show/lecture given by Carol Doak at Threads of Time in Danville, Il. It was magnificent!!! She is not only a gifted quiltologist, writer, and speaker but also very personable, and has a great sense of humor. I was one of the lucky ones that registered early enough to get in on the overnight stay and workshop the next day. Carol taught from her book, "Mariner's Compass Stars" and we made the "Sunrise" block. She had many helpful hints and made paper piecing fun. The only down side to the whole event is finding out that she's retiring from the lecture circuit at the end of this year. SO, if you get the chance to go to one of her lectures or workshops DO IT NOW!!! Even though the book signing was during the hour long reception before the trunk show, she signed books right up till the end of the workshop.

You will absolutely LOVE it. If you never paper pieced before, she just basically walks you through it. Don't over think it, just do it like she says and you shouldn't have any problems. If you have paper pieced before, she'll have some great tips and innovative ideas for you to learn. And that laugh!! Oh my, once you've heard her laugh (and you will----often) you'd be able to pick her out of any crowd! She's a riot!

I think the main post about her came through 2X. My computer was acting up and I didn't think the first one got through.

Okay, thought I was going crazy there for a minute when I read this post and then found the other one.
This will be my first class that I'll be able to take in the summer without work obligations so I am really looking forward to it!
    :)

Yeah, right, I haven't even gotten it washed yet.  Today I cut it all into 3 yd pieces and sorted it by color group to wash--all 209 yds. Then I took DD to swim lessons, came home and took a three hour nap.
