carpet vs. wood floor in your sewing room
#31
I have hard wood floors - but I got a play mat at Sam's which is in 8 squares - and I put those around my quilting table (center of my room) and move them around. Really gives some cushion to those old feet and low back when I am standing - my table is also 40" high - which also helps !! No constant bending at the waist to see and work !

I had carpet in my sewing room and we removed all carpeting from our house. I have wood laminate in my sewing room and it so much easier to clean up then carpeting. The only problem I have is my foot travels. Plus with the floor I have now I don't have to worry about thread getting wrapped around the wheels and brush of the vaccum.

I have carpet because it doubles as a guest room. But, we're eventually yanking out ALL of it and replacing it with either wood or laminate. Much easier and safer(no hidden pins etc). And carpet is soooo bad if you suffer from allergies or asthma. No matter how clean of a person you are, have you seen the dirty water come out of a steam cleaner?? YUCK. All I know is I'll never have carpet again! Luckily, I live in CA so I don't have to worry about the floors being too cold etc. But, if I lived elsewhere I'd go with heated tile etc. and still lose the carpet.
