May have to get he book.
I think they used some of them as a kind of historical record, but to us it does sometimes feel kinda creepy.

A cemetery quilt. A casket quilt. What ever you want to call it came from. Back years ago.
We have what are called body bags today. When some one passes away they are put in a body bag to transport. Back in lets say our grandparents or great grandparents day there was no bag to put them in to transport.
And since most people pass away or died at home. They would be laying on their beds. Thus the under taker would roll the person up in the nearest bed cover. (Bed covering was the longest thing and would cover the entire body). Most being a quilt. Cause people had to use what they had at home for covers and they made quilts to stay warm at night. So as the quilt was the closest thing near the body it was what was used.
After a few year people started making quilts they want to go to the casket in.

By the way stefanib123 I am from the same area. Only I am from the WV. area
