Default Changing the names on quilt pdf files?

I love saving pdf quilt files to my computer, like all the BOM or quilt challenges. But every month on some BOM they change the way the title is said. So am I the only one who renames them so that they are in order, so I can find the blocks all listed together, in order, by the day or the month?

I am a big fan of Kathleen Tracy, and belong to her Small Quilt group. So I have gone back through all of her Small Quilt a Month or Quilt Challenges and listed them by month and year in order. This way i know if I am missing some files saved to my computer. It has helped me with my list of her challenges 2012-2019. Now I can see what months I might be missing, I may have to go back through my flash drives to see if I can find them Thanks for any thoughts on this idea. Vickie

When I download a pdf I always change the name. If it is a mystery quilt I put Part 1, and so on an put each of the clues in the folder with the name of the mystery quilt. I change the name of most pdf so I know what they, example change it to star table runner from Stars Of Day or some such. if the file has a lot of _ and symbols I take those out.

I do the same as you. If its a BOM type with more than 1 part/step I'll label them so they will come up in order. I also save pics of the quilt so when I look for a certain type/style of quilt I don't have to open up the PDF file, just look at the pic.

I do this. Makes everything easier to find...at least, for me, it does.

Yep, I change the names too. I don't know why I bother - I'm never going to have time to make all those quilts!

That's one big complaint I have against Amazon Kindle. I can't rename the patterns, so when I'm looking for something or an inspiration that I know I have downloaded, I have to open and look at each one.

Yes you can. Do you ever read the Kindle forum at Amazon? http://www.kindle-fireforum.com/foru...name-pdfs.html

I change mine frequently too. Being a bit OCD...for BOM's rather than put the month as the name I use numbers so they will be in order. I also number by "01, 02, 03" etc so when you get the 10th block it keeps them in sequence.

Adding Part 1, etc is also something that I do. I rename or name all of my files so they are in chronological order. Also, I add the 'type' of item before the name the designer has given it. And BOM etc are put in a folder all their own. And if I save a picture from the QB that I put in my ideas file, I do the same... ex of saving one today: 20190117 modern quilt QB [member name]... then I can find it here on the QB to link to it if necessary, and avoid posting copyright material. Thank goodness tech has progressed to long file names... anyone remember when we were limited to 8 characters? LOL
