So quite a few of you are cheating with crafty things other than knitting! Me, too. Been knitting quite few socks recently.

Common thing seems to be small and hand work.

I usually crochet scarfs for my daughter, but also have a hand quilting project I keep in a sewing basket that is always ready.

Another sock knitter here--generally just brainless stockinette (I use pretty yarn to keep it interesting). Most of my socks need to be washed right off the needles, because they go to work with me and I work in a very grubby, dusty environment.

No kind of sewing is chaos-proof for me. Needles and thimbles are too easily lost, and it requires a certain amount of "settling" when I go to work on it. It's hard for me to pick up and put down in odd moments the way I can with knitting.

I do the hand-sewing part of quilt bindings.

True confession: I'm a big procrastinator. I always seem to have a quilt or two lying around that is complete except for the hand-sewn side of the binding.
