Hello All!
My work is Partnering with the Child Abuse Prevention Center in Sacramento, CA.
I know this is short notice but I'm hoping that maybe a couple of people could help me out.
This center aids foster kids leaving the system. When they turn 18 they are basically shown the door and basically just have a garbage bag (literally) of their belongings and wished well. They have no money and often times no knowledge of the outside world. Most of these kids end up falling through the cracks never to be heard from. Most of them end up on the street and a most of them will end up selling their body within the first 6 months to make money to survive.
99% of people in prison and on death row were abused as a child. Thats a crazy statistic!
On November 6th, my work will be presenting this center with items for the kids. Blankets, towels, luggage, personal hygiene products, slightly used appliances etc.
If you have quilt lying around and you dont know what to do with it, I'm sure they could use it at the center! Or extra toothpaste tubes lying around, toothbrushes, etc.
If you have any questions or would like to send something along (I would need to receive it by Nov 5th) please PM me and I will send you the address to send it to.
Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give!
-Nikki

Don't forget to contact your local American Legion Post and Auxiliary.
There are many organizations within a few blocks of your neighborhood who are waiting to find someone to help.
Remember what my dad said: No one can shoot you for asking, but they can tell you "no". If you never ask, you will never know.
In the meantime, pm me your address and I have some supplies to send to you.
To pm someone, click on their screen name. Another screen will come up with more information about that person ... under their avatar, you will see a pm (private message) button. Click on that, and a screen will pop up that looks like a "post reply" page. It is a way of sending a personal message within the framework of the Quilting Board. I will receive an email notifying me that you have posted a message for me and our project will begin.
Also, many churches have quilting groups that are building quilts for exactly the project you are proposing.
