cheater is such a HORRIBLE-NEGATIVE WORD!!! i wish it was banned!
there is nothing wrong with using panals- printed fabrics- we use them all the time- and there is no reason to put such a negative slant to them.
it does not matter what is printed on a fabric- we still use it creatively to create a wonderful quilt-or pillow-or tote- what ever= why make that sound as if it is not as valuable as any quilt made with all solid fabrics?

i spent just as long on this quilt as any i've made- and it's center is a wonderful panal of the pledge of allegence- no cheating involved.

sorry for being crabby about this but 'newby's read that (horrible cheat thing) then think they should not use panals-thinking it is a bad thing- it's not- a panal is just another printed fabric....
    .I agree
I agree with you 100%, I to just finished making a quilt that started out as a panel. I cut mine apart and made more blocks to go with the panels. it took a long time to sew together and quilt and I am proud of every stitch in it.

Well I do believe if you were to complain about a word being negative wouldnt that make that a double negative? HUM?........Because complaining is negative....Just an observation.

I call that preprinted quilting fabric. I love that type of fabric.

    Sorry
No appologies necessary, we were just curious! There are many terms for these, and common ones are leaders & enders, from the Bonnie Hunter site http://quiltville.com/

My quilting friend and I call them "spiders" because after a few uses the little bits of thread sticking off both sides remind us of spider legs.
