I am making Folder-Folios for all the "girls" this year. The designer is Terri Stegmiller and the web site is www.twocreativestudios.com She has many free fabric ideas on her web site.

CarrieAnn, make slippers from fleece. Everyone likes them. They are so warm and wash well.

    1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Heat oven to 250 degrees. Combine cereal and pecans in a 13 x 9 inch pan. Combine corn syrup, butter and brown sugar in 2 cup microwavable bowl. Microwave on high for 1 1/2 minutes. Stir well and Microwave for 1/2 to 1 1/2 minutes more or until boiling. I usually let mine bowl for 15 to 20 seconds longer. Stir in vanilla and baking soda, mix very well. Mixture will become caramel colored and very creamy. Pour over cereal and pecans, mix well. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes. Spread on baking sheet and allow to cool completely. Break into pieces. Makes 10 cups.

    Enjoy!!

I can't wait to try this! Sounds so good!!!

I don't know if there is a free pattern for slippers available, but I have made polar fleece socks from a pattern I bought online from "The Greenpepper" company. The pattern goes by shoe size and is from baby to adult. I love this pattern, it's so easy and quick--1/2 hour to cut and sew a pair of socks! I think one yard of fabric makes at least four adult pairs and you can make little ones with the leftovers and give them to family or donate them to an abused women's shelter or some other worthy cause. My 16 year old son loves his fleece socks on cold winter nights and I'm told that men who hunt and fish love them for cold weather as it keeps the feet warm and wicks away moisture.

Carrie Ann and Lynn, I use The Green Pepper Pattern #504. It included sizes for adult and children sizes in two lengths. I got the pattern at JoAnn's and it was $7.00. For children I put the gripper fabric on sole of slipper. On adults that have hard wood floors or vinyl, I sometimes put gripper fabric on the ball of sole. They go together very fast. With all the fleece that is out there now, they can match Pj's or robe or just have fun prints to wear anytime.
