Good idea Karla - love the log cabin. On vacation in September, I made one of the styrofoam ball ones, but have still not put the ribbon around the middle. Will post when I finish it.

    Hi, Karla....

Well, I got to my sewing machine this afternoon and made seven little log cabin blocks. Thanks to your wonderful idea and sharing your technique, I will have quilted ornaments for the grandchildren.

I used white snowflakes on royal blue, red center, blue snowflakes on white, plus cheery red backing with snowflakes. I used stuff from my stash and have had a ball. Even the floss was found in my drawer of threads ;-) Tomorrow, I will slip-stitch the open edge and add the ribbon hangers.

The teacher part of this quilting granny is surfacing. I think I'll take a digital picture and have prints made. Then, I can enclose the photo and a brief history about this type of block when I package up the individual ornaments in a Ziplock bag.

My older son and his wife have allowed the granddaughters to decorate the family tree with their ornaments and those that my son had while he was growing up. I think I will start the tradition of making each of them the quilted ornament each year.......

    Piecefully yours,
    Kay Susan
