Default Christmas Projects with Novelty Prints

I know, I know ... it's July ... but what better time to beat the heat and do a little sewing for Christmas?

So here's the situation -- as I unpack the fabric I had squirreled away for holiday projects I had some ideas in mind. With prints that are an all-over toss design, I figured I would make tons of those wonderful boxes that were so popular on the QB several months ago. And, of course, they'll be great for borders on other projects.

Fun designs that go in one direction will make cute place mats, mug rugs or table runners.

BUT ... what to do with Nativity designs? All of the ones I have go in one direction, so while I thought I could make boxes that would serve as card holders, they will look a little weird. And somehow I don't think they are appropriate prints to use as place mats or mug rugs so you can plop your cocoa down on the Holy Family! Any ideas?

And, of course, any ideas for all these fabrics other than boxes, place mats, runners and mug rugs are more than welcome!

Bags and totes ... big enough to carry Christmas presents when leaving home! Or to use when going shopping.
Wine bags, for those who might use them.

Nativity designs might work well as borders and/or backing for an appropriate related quilt or wall hanging. Perhaps as decor for your Church? A runner for the vestibule? or the social gathering area? Or as gift(s) to nursing or retirement homes?

Decorations for the tree and tree skirts would be other possibilities.

How about a table runner? It would be pretty for Christmas feast.

    Beautiful prints!
Yes, agree ... the top two are just not placemat or mug rug material. I am still giggling about your comment "plopping down your cocoa on the Holy Family". Yes, agree, would seem, oh so wrong!

The bright red one is fun ... I wouldn't hesitate with it being cocoa ploppable!

If you belong to a church, does your minister need a bag to carry things in? Maybe some Bible covers or bags. The bottom one would make cute bags for children to carry their Bible. Fussy cut pattern wall hangings.

What about reversible placemats? That way the Holy Family can be "up" for a beautiful decoration, then for eating it can be turned over.

We make bags as reuseable Christmas wrap.

My aunt made a Christmas Card holder using vase shaped pieces crocheted together on a hexagon base (needs heavy interfacing).

Another idea is boxes of any size.

Can you fussy cut the prints and make Christmas penants/garland?
