Bernina has a foot that does that for you. It is a disc shape with a tube-like opening in the side and a hole in center for needle. Feed yarn, fine cording, etc in the side and out the bottom. Forget what it's called but if the yarn can fit it is great. Never thought to use it for stained-glass work.

If you have old Christmas cards, go thru them to see if you have any with silhouette figures. That would be fairly easy to do in blue, brown and beige batiks.

Thank you for that suggestion but he is stuck on the idea of the nativity scene being true to the historical period. That leaves out the Old Master's versions, the newer versions, the silhouettes, etc. He wants it done as if someone took a photo of the actual event.

Here are my stained glass Nativities. The first was was very easy to make. I sold two sets and have made two additional as gifts. The second one is still hanging in my living room. In put it up last Christmas and have not taken it down.
