My mom uses them to tie up her tomatoe plants in the garden, to tie tops of bags.

Just one question: how do you "reuse" selvage edges????

I have a couple of patterns for selvages. I believe it says that they need to be at least 1 inch wide. Now to start saving may selvages to make it! I my just buy them from some one on here.

A year ago I started cutting them off of all new fabric as soon as they were washed. I'm in the process now of cutting ALL selvages off every piece of fabric I own and am refolding and reorganizing and of course, purging, as I clean out my sewing room!!! I plan on using them in string quilts that I will be making later on in the year.

Would these work for the latch hook rugs they make from fabric?

I belong to a quilt guild in NH and some of us save salvages. One girl made a bag. Very cute.

If anyone has ideas, please comment.

I was taking a tag out of a skirt I bought to use for fabric and wondered if anyone ever saves the tags to use in a quilt---I know another subject but thought I would throw that in the mix.

Does anyone have a picture using selvage pieces of a completed project? I'm not visualizing what all of you are talking about.

Yep, I've seen some quilts made using labels. They're usually zigzagged or fused to a fabric block, and then assembled into a quilt. Very cool.

Guess I will go retrieve it and add it to my now newly started selvage collection.
