Collegiate Quilt Help
Does anyone have a pattern that they can suggest for a college quilt? My niece wants me to make a quilt for Iowa State University for her family room. I want to get started early for her Christmas present.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a link to patterns for college logos....not sure about Iowa State, but the patterns are basic log cabin blocks and could easily be adapted to whatever initials you need....I made the one for Indiana with a couple changes for hubby and he loves it!

I made a collegiate baby blanket for my nephew's new infant. It was a simple D9P in the colors of the college. One of the fabrics was a logo fabric, that I used in a few of the larger blocks. It turned out great.

Do you have fabrics with the printed design/logo for ISU? There are some for most major universities. If you do, I like using the BQ pattern by Maple Island Quilts---very quick and easy. Use your logo fabric for the large squares, then two other coordinating university colors in solid fabrics for the lines and background.

You could do a Double Irish Chain in the school colors, or if licensed print is available, use that for your squares, and in the "blank" blocks, applique the initials of the college, or the mascot. I did this for my brother, who is a huge OSU fan. The first block was scarlet, gray and white, and a Block O was appliqued inside the "blank" area. Didn't think to get a picture of it before I gave it to him, but it turned out really well.
