I am going to make a dis. nine patch table runner using Moda's Blueberry crumble. I have noticed the effect of using reds but don't want to use an orange red. Thinking of crimson or cranberry (blue/red) for a few additional squares. Friend has suggested using soft brown or greens, but I would really like to use a red. Any suggestion appreciated. Haven't found anything on line yet. Will go to J's next week to use my Christmas gift certificate. TIA

Well, an orange red is the combeinatyion for red and yellow, which are the compliments of blue, that's why it seems to work well with blue. Crimson and cranberry, on the other hand, have blue in them so often various yellows will work well with them.
I'd suggest taking your Blueberry Crumble with you and audition many different reds (and even other colors!) right on top of them in the shop. Ask others for their take on it. Try to allow your brain-on-crimson mindset to be objective during this process, it might surprise you what you come up with.
