When quilting a design on a quilt, you don't really want to see the thread color on the front of the quilt, but what happens when you have a quilt that has many bright colors on it, what color thread do you use?

    thanks,
    Maggie

I use a neutral, it makes for an interesting look, sometimes it is noticable, sometimes it disappears.

I've heard some use variegated, I would use a shade of gray that would blend in with all the other colors. Others use a polyester invisible thread.

Others here will have other ideas!

Actually, sometimes I want the quilting to show and use a thread that "pops".

I often use varigated thread. It's so hard to tell without seeing them together. Sometimes what I think is perfect is a little too light or dark. It is helpful to unwrap a few feet of thread and lay it out on your quilt to test a few colors. I also recommend making a test square of leftover scraps of your fabrics to try out a few colors. I will be doing this myself soon with one that has black, yellow, orange, red, white and blue fabrics. I can't tell until I finish assembling the top. Sometimes I have a harder time picking the bobbin color! :)
