A clerk at Michael's told me the brushes I had were stencil brushes, but that is not so. They are fabric brushes. Here is a picture of the set.

Fabric brush set purchased at Michaels...cost $7.99

I just bought the ones in the package above this morning at the store in Cedar Rapids, IA.

I'm sure other brushes will work as long as they are synthetic brushes with short bristles, and stiff.

The clear plastic-handled blue ones in this picture are this brand:
    Loew-Cornell - 223 Shader, 225 Stencil, 228 Scrubber

    Smallest blue wood-handled one:
    Loew-Cornell - 690 Fab Spotter

The green one is ArtMinds 3 (Same brand as ones in the package).

Well, maybe those brushes not in the package are stencil brushes??? I know nothing about stenciling.

The girl who made the rose needed to make the leaves greener after quilting. We put a few drops of water on a plate and used the brush on the Inktense pencil to pick up color. The color was deposited into the water until it was the intensity we wanted. Then it was brushed onto the leaves. It worked great. We were careful to brush from the center of the leaf outwards to prevent bleeding.

Jane, have you thought about contacting an administrator on the board to see if you can have a virtual thread for this topic? I don't know much about how it works. But, it seems like many would be interested to continually get tips and pointers, post their drawings/quiltings on such a spot.

I know if you do a search for Lostn51 who is Billy, he might be able to have some answers. He has the virtual "Vintage Sewing Machine Shop" and it has been going for well over a year. :-D

You have such a teacher's heart and don't seem to mind encouraging and giving continual tips. I, for one, really appreciate all of your input!

Linda, I don't know anything about a virtual thread. I'll have to think about this. I would like to do a tutorial when I have a little more knowledge. This topic has helped me to see the kinds of questions people have and what I have left out of the descriptions...great lead-up to a tutorial. I will be presenting at our guild's quilt show in September. I need to make a PDF and post here or in a tutorial on this site, so I can send people here instead of making handouts. Could people post their comments and pictures of their projects on the tutorial link? As you can see, I just joined this board in March and am not totally "in the know" about these things.
