Yes, I noticed how new you were to this board. And what an asset too, to all of us! I also don't know much about the virtual section. I do believe that a person who has not joined the board can look but not post. You have to sign up in order to post. And, they could also print off the material they want from this board.

On topics I really want to save, I edit/copy and then edit/paste them onto a Word document and save it to my computer; then, print off if I need to.

I just checked things out and found out that those that you refer to this board can do a search. Tell them to type in quiltingboard.com; hit search near the top and to type in the title of your topic. It will take them to all of the pages on your topic. Hope this helps. :-D

Be careful when adding color and then gel. If you keep adding color on top of the first gel layer, it will not go into the fabric and may wash out when removing the gel.

It is better to color and add gel once on top. Then heat set and wash. I use a little hand scrub brush to gently take off the gel. Let dry and then add more color and gel.

I'm wondering if thinning the gel with water might work.

I will continue to experiment to get improvements.

It's worth trying your hand at just using water with the Derwent Watercolor and Inktense Pencils. Use different sized brushes to see how much control you have with the water. Also, try coloring in stages and brush with water, letting it dry, and then going to another color or adjacent color. I usually start with the lightest colors first.

You can dry the work faster with pressing cloths and an iron. Protect your ironing board just in case. You can also use the low setting on a hair dryer.

You are most welcome. I ordered my Inktense pencils from Blick and am hoping they arrive soon.

I love taking photos of flowers in the hopes of being able to paint them. Somehow I never seem to get around to it. When my pencils get here, I plan to begin. Here are a few I want to hopefully capture in a drawing and then quilt them. :-D

SewExtreme, your photos show gorgeous flowers. You will have fun coloring them. Forewarning...it's hard to color flowers that have very little shading and achieve realism. Good luck!

My 72 pencil tin of Inktense pencils were ordered from dickblick.com on a Tuesday and got them the next Tuesday (just this week). I made a color chart for the pencils. I used a lined chart under the fabric strip for placement. I put Fray Check around the edge of the strip. This really helps when choosing colors. It shows the dry color and the gel results. It fits the exact size of pencils in the tin and can be stored there.

The numbers on the actual pencils are not the same as the numbers on the website, but the color names are also listed on the pencils.
