I also went to Staples and tried out all the office chairs until I found my perfect fit. It has arms that are easily removed when they are in the way. I don't lean back when I sew but I like to rest my back while using the seam ripper or trimming, etc.

I use a computer chair, but could not find one without the arms...so my DH took them off for me. Very comfy to sit the tush on.

Chairs were a major consideration while setting up a sewing clinic for my 4-H students. I wanted an adjustable chair because of the various heights of the kids. I wanted 5 points of contact to the floor to reduce the "lean-back" potential so prone by active kids. I couldn't afford 4 office chairs in one pop, so I visited the flea market.

I found good chairs, at different vendors, different markets, for $8 and $10. I tried each one to be certain that the backs and seats were adjustable and the wheels rolled easily. The students will make seat covers or pads for the backs and seats so that all chairs in the room will match, also for long term protection.

So, good task chairs, or computer chairs, as they may be known are available at almost disposable prices. Just try them on for size.

I use a gym ball - gives my pelvic floor a workout while i sit and sew or type.

I use an office chair too. I think it came from Lowes, back when they had a little bit of furniture. It's leather, has wheels and arms, and reclines and swivels. I love it. :)

Be sure to check to see if any are listed on CraigsList before plunking down a lot of money. I see them all the time on our local CraigsList. DH found a used but decent chair for just $5. :thumbup:

I use a bar stool I got at Bed,Bath, & Beyond - it raises & lowers so I can raise it and sit to cut fabric or lower it for sewing - at the lowest level I'm still a tad higher than a regular chair so I have a better view of what I'm sewing.

I have hard wood floors and had to put a throw rug under my chair so it would stay put, but I can still roll away when I need to.

This is interesting. I was just reading about the carpet cutting blades that work for rotary cutters that Harbor Freight carries. Now I read this post...Harbor Freight has these stools also. I've been looking at them and may now buy one. Along with the cutting blades. Poor Harbor Freight...they don't know what's hit them! :-D

I found a set of four older vinyl dining chairs w/rollers at an estate sale for $10. They needed a lot of cleaning, but work great for my sewing and computer workstations.
