Commissioned quilt..what a deal!
#41
When I used to sell antique quilts, I sold one to a man who was a psychologist. When I told him the price, he said "That sounds somewhat high". I had to bite my tongue to keep from saying, "That's what your patients must say when they get the bill."

I have begun keeping track of the hours I put into each quilt. I keep a quilt journal already, so that's another fact to add to the page. If someone asks me to make a quilt, I tell them how many hours are involved and at $10 an hour, there it is. My last quilt had 94 hours in it and that was just the pressing, cutting and piecing! I think people believe they can get a better deal from someone who sews than they can get in the stores. No way!
I am working on a quilt top and I figure that I will have about 60 fun hours into it. Then off to the quilter. I was figuring $800-$900 IF someone offered to buy it. Not that I want to sell it! But tempting IF!
