the time between sewing a quilt top and actually making the top into a quilt can be years. so those who use starch as many quilters do are more likely to experience the insects. i am sure those starched tops are stored somewhere waiting on the day when its their turn to be a quilt. sometimes they may not even see the insects to know they could possibly have them.

I am a fan of Magic Sizing. I never knew how much a difference it could make in cutting and piecing, but, it surely does! However, I only use it before I cut for a project, or while I am a piecing a project. Hopefully those "critters" stay away! Yikes! Thanks for the info!

It's more likely the fabric you bought at a later time was a different lot than the previous purchase. Dye lots can change ever so slightly. I always buy all the fabric I'll need in one purchase, from the same bolt if possible.
