    ha, ha. i've done that with my micron pigma pens. then heat set a few seconds with the iron and you're done.
    also, i stopped doing stitch in the ditch and just do curves down the seams. use my quilting foot and move the quilt to the right and the left as i go along.

    I have a set of permanent markers in my sewing drawer. I use them on occasions like yours. Unless Mom is going to use a magnifying glass, it will stay your "dirty little secret". :-) Be sure & press with hot iron to set the color. (so I've been told)

    I call that "meandering along the ditch" and once the quilt is washed, most of those stitches won't be noticeable.

    I would use fabric pens - but once it is washed a couple of times, you will never even notice it -
